Starnberg Lake
(also Starnberger See, Würmsee), a lake in the southern part of the Federal Republic of Germany, in Bavaria. Starnberg Lake is situated at an elevation of 584 m; it has an area of 57 sq km and a maximum depth of 123 m. The Wurm River of the Danube basin issues from it. In summer the temperature of the lake varies from 15°C to 24°C. The lake is a popular recreation area. The city of Starnberg is located on the northern shore.
