Andrianov, Vasilii Ivanovich
Born Aug. 13, 1920, in the village of Ivanisovo, Kalinin Oblast. Colonel in the Soviet Army. Member of the CPSU since 1944. Was graduated from the war aviation school for pilots in 1943.
During the Great Patriotic War, Andrianov moved up through the ranks from pilot to squadron commander of the 141st Air Assault Regiment, which participated in the battle of Kursk, operated in the Ukraine, Rumania, and Poland, and took part in the Berlin operation. He completed 177 sorties, participated in 37 air battles, and shot down six planes. For his valor and courage he was twice awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union (July 1, 1944, and June 27, 1945). After the war he was graduated from the Air Force Academy and the General Staff Academy. He served in command positions and subsequently engaged in teaching. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, Orders of the Patriotic War First Class, of Glory Third Class, of Alexandr Nevsky, and of the Red Star, as well as medals. A bust of Andrianov has been placed in the village of Sankovo, Kalinin Oblast, where he formerly lived.
