Barat Daja

 

or Southwest, Islands; an archipelago in the Moluccas in southeastern Indonesia. The main islands are Wetar, Romang, and Damar. The area is approximately 7,000 sq km. The topography is mountainous, with heights to 1,412 m (on the island of Wetar). There are active volcanoes. Savanna landscapes predominate. There is fishing and tropical farming. The main population centers are Ilwaki, Lioppa, and Arwala.
