A generic term for the social factors which affect the health of an individual—e.g., housing, employment, income, education, family coherency, etc.Per the World Health Organisation: “The social determinants of health are mostly responsible for health inequities - the unfair and avoidable differences in health status seen within and between countries.” Recognising these determinants are integral to developing health initiatives and interventions.
