The Arabs The ArabsDuring the 1980s, a slang term describing the cause for any unpredictable or unexplainable upswing or downswing in the markets. That is, when traders could not explain why the market moved in a certain way, they would jokingly blame (or credit) "the Arabs." The term was popularized by the book Liar's Poker, which describes the author's experience as a bond trader on Wall Street in the 1980s. |
