Tilburg (tĭl`bərg), city (1994 pop. 163,383), North Brabant prov., S Netherlands, near the Belgian border. Long a major center of the woolen textile industry, Tilburg also produces chemicals, printing supplies, filtration membranes, and automobiles and is the headquarters for several corporations. The city's main industrial growth began in the late 19th cent. It is the site of Tilburg Univ.
