Anselmo Lorenzo
Lorenzo, Anselmo
Born Apr. 21, 1841, in Toledo; died Nov. 30, 1914, in Barcelona. Figure in the Spanish workers’ movement. One of the ideologists of anarchosyndicalism. Printing worker by trade.
Lorenzo took part in the establishment of sections of the First International in Spain. He was a member of the Spanish Federal Council (1870-72) and was a delegate to the London conference of the First International (1871). During 1872-73, in the ranks of the New Madrid Federation, he opposed the disorganizing activity of the Bakuninists, although his views were close to anarchism (to a considerable degree he was influenced by P. Proudhon). Later Lorenzo participated in the so-called Anarchist International and in a number of anarchosyndicalist publications.
