Location:Approximately 55 miles east of Fargo, North Dakota.
Facilities:Visitor center, picnic areas, boat launch, fishing pier, auto tour route, trails, viewing sites.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, bicycyling, horseback riding, mushroom and berry picking, hunting, cross-country skiing, educational programs.
Special Features:The forests and waters of the refuge are home to an expanding bald eagle population and sightings are common during breeding season.
Habitats: Nearly 43,000 acres of forest, lakes, marshes, bogs, swamps and temporary ponds.
Access: Open year round, 5am to 10pm.
Wild life: Ducks, geese, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, beavers, timber wolf, and porcupines.
