Tigoda

Tigoda

 

a river in Leningrad and Novgorod oblasts, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Volkhov River of the Neva River basin. The Tigoda is 143 km long and drains an area of 2,290 sq km. It is fed mainly by snow. High water occurs in April and May; in autumn there are flash floods. The mean flow rate 86 km from the mouth is 4.3 cu m per sec. The river freezes in November or December, and the ice breaks up in late March or April. The Tigoda is used for floating timber. The city of Liuban’ is located on the river.
