Snyder, Solomon (Halbert)

(1938– ) psychiatrist; born in Washington, D.C. Affiliated with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1965), he became director of the department of neuroscience in 1980. He made possible many advances in molecular neuroscience by identifying the receptors for neurotransmitters and drugs and elucidating the actions of psychotropic agents (1960s–80s).
