Achit Nuur

 

a freshwater lake in the western part of the Mongolian People’s Republic. It is located in an intermontane valley at an elevation of 1,435 m. Its area is 290 sq km; it is 28 km long, 16 km wide, and over 10 m deep. The barren shores are primarily rocky and elevated; in the northeast they are low-lying and swampy. The lake is fed by several rivers. The Usun-Kholai Channel, which empties into the Kobdo River, flows out of the lake.
