Length: 426 km (265 miles) Snowy River a river in southeastern Australia, in the states of New South Wales and Victoria. The Snowy River is 483 km long and drains an area of 13,500 sq km. It rises in the Snowy Mountains and flows in places through a deep valley, emptying into the Tasman Sea at the city of Mario. It is fed by snow and rain. The water resources of the Snowy River are used for irrigation and electric power. Lake Eucumbee, a large reservoir, is located in the river’s basin.
