Pematangsiantar

a city in Indonesia, on Sumatra. Population, 129,000 (1971). Pematangsiantar is a commercial and industrial center in the province of Northern Sumatra. It has food-processing, textile, sawmilling, and rubber-processing industries. There is also a factory manufacturing yarn from ramie.
