trivial consultation

trivial consultation

a form of inappropriate conduct where patients seek medical advice for problems that are neither medically relevant nor life-threatening. However salient the problems are for patients, they may be dismissed by doctors because they implicate factors beyond medical competence (domestic, financial, social or emotional) and because they cast the doctor in the role of general counsellor/advisor. They are a significant element in doctors’ lack of job satisfaction because they are viewed as time-wasting.
