Reception of Law

the adoption of a system of law that has been formulated in another state or in a previous historical era by adapting it to the conditions of a particular country. Unlike the forcible imposition of foreign law after a war or colonial seizure, reception of law is the adoption of more highly developed legal forms as a result of historical continuity and the relationship between the legal systems of states having similar socioeconomic conditions.
