Pekulnei

a mountain range in northeastern Asia, in the Anadyr’ River basin, Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. Elevations, to 1,381 m (Mount Koliuchaia); length, 300 km. The mountains are composed of extrusive and schist and sandstone Mesozoic and Cenozoic deposits cut by intrusions of basic rock. Moss and grass tundra with sparse shrubbery and dwarf stone pine is encountered on the slopes at elevations to 500 m; higher, there is rocky lichen tundra with a thin vegetative cover.
