[rē′bȯil·ər] (chemical engineering) An auxiliary heating unit for a fractionating tower designed to supply additional heat to the lower portion of the tower; liquid withdrawn from the side or bottom of the tower is reheated by heat exchange, then reintroduced into the tower.
