pedipalpus[¦ped·ə¦pal·pəs] (invertebrate zoology) One of the second pair of appendages of an arachnid. Pedipalpus one of the second pair of jointed appendages of the cephalothorax of Arachnoidea. In most species, the palpal organ serves to crush prey. Other species have chelate pedipalpi, for example, the scorpions and pseudoscorpions.
