Sulina

 

a city in Rumania, in the district of Tulcea; a port on the Black Sea, on the Sulina branch of the Danube River delta. Population, 4,500 (1974). Sulina, the easternmost population center of Rumania, is a popular tourist site. Industries include fish processing and metalworking.


Sulina

 

(also Braful Sulina), the central branch of three branches and the main navigable branch of the Danube River delta in Rumania. As a result of straightening and deepening, the Sulina for much of its length is an artificial channel 84 km long, 120 to 150 m wide, and 7 to 7.5 m deep. Two port cities are situated on the branch—Tulcea at the origin of the branch and Sulina at the mouth.
