Väika Preserve
Väika Preserve
a state preserve in the Estonian SSR situated on rocky islands almost entirely devoid of vegetation, mainly on Väika and Vilsandi islands (near Saaremaa Island) in the Baltic Sea.
Väika Preserve was created in 1910 to protect and increase the population of marine birds. Of particular value are the eiders that nest in the preserve. Various ducks, gulls, terns, sandpipers, plovers, water thrushes, and other birds also inhabit the sanctuary.
