Vuktyl

an urban-type settlement in Komi ASSR, located on the right bank of the Pechora River, 260 km northeast of the city of Ukhta. Population, 10,000 (1969). It is the center of a major gas condensate deposit. In 1969 the gas pipeline Siianie Severa was laid from the Vuktyl deposit to the central regions of the European part of the USSR.
