(Journal of Higher Schools), a scientific and methodological journal, published monthly; organ of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the USSR. Published in Moscow. The journal was founded in 1940; it was not published between June 1941 and July 1945. Until the third and fourth issues of 1946, it was the organ of the All-Union Committee on Higher School Affairs of the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR. The journal deals with issues of scholastic, educational, and scientific work and of the training and skill improvement of scientific-pedagogical personnel and specialists in the higher schools; the journal publishes information on the international ties of Soviet institutions of higher learning and on colleges abroad. It has a section on criticism and bibliography. Circulation, 10,000 (1971).
