Vestnik Vospitaniia

Vestnik Vospitaniia

(Journal of Upbringing), a pedagogical scientific-popular journal. Published in Moscow from 1890 to 1917 (until 1901, eight issues a year; then nine). It was founded by the pediatrician E. A. Pokrovskii.

One of the best prerevolutionary pedagogical journals, Vestnik vospitaniia dealt with the topical problems of public education and devoted much attention to child psychology, preschool education, school hygiene, and physical training. A great deal of space was given to pedagogical bibliography and criticism, and the section “Pedagogical Chronicle” appeared regularly. The leading educators and scholars V. P. Vakhterov, V. P. Ostrogorskii, D. I. Tikhomirov, D. D. Semenov, N. V. Chekhov, F. F. Erisman, I. I. Mechnikov, and V. M. Bekhterev took part in the work of the journal.
