Price, (Samuel Blythe) Sammy

(1908–92) jazz musician; born in Honey Grove, Texas. He was a versatile pianist, singer, and dancer who began his career with Alphonso Trent from 1927 to 1930 and served as house pianist for Decca Records between 1938 and 1950. Thereafter he free-lanced in music while becoming active in Harlem politics and various business ventures.
