(ū′vă-ŭr′sē) An evergreen perennial shrub, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (family Ericaceae)—commonly known as bearberry—whose dried leaves are used as a urinary antiseptic and diuretic. There have been few clinical trials on its effectiveness.
