Varvara Adrianova-Peretts

Adrianova-Peretts, Varvara Pavlovna

 

Born Apr. 30 (May 12), 1888, in Nezhin. Soviet Russian literary scholar.

Adrianova-Peretts became a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in 1926 and of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1943. Her published works include studies of the history of Old Russian literature, of 17th and 18th century satiric literature, of Ukrainian literature, and of the relation of literature and folklore. She was awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and several medals.
