Varna Shipyard

(full name, the G. Dimitrov Varna Shipyard), one of Bulgaria’s biggest industrial enterprises. Built with the help of the USSR on the basis of old repair shops and small shipyards after the establishment of the people’s democratic regime. Among the vessels built at the shipyard are trade and passenger sea and river ships, tug-boats, launchers and floating workshops, cranes, and fish-processing plants; there is also lot production of ships with displacements of 3,200 (Varna class) and 5,000 tons (Sofia class) and 4,000-ton tankers. The Varna Shipyard satisfies the needs of Bulgaria and exports ships to other countries.
