Varna Gulf

Varna Gulf

 

a gulf on the Black Sea on the Bulgarian coast. It protrudes 3 km into the land. It is 7 km wide at its opening and between 10 and 18 m deep. The gulf freezes in cold winters. The northern and southern shores are elevated, and the western shore is a lowland. A navigable canal links the Varna Gulf with Lakes Varna and Beloslav. The city and port of Varna is located on the Varna Gulf.
