Bekdash

urban-type settlement in Krasnovodsk Raion, Turkmen SSR. A port on the Caspian Sea, 250 km north of the city of Krasnovodsk. Population, 6,100 (1968). There is production of sodium sulfate and other mineral salts from the saltwater extracted from the Kara-Bogaz-Gol Bay. A branch of the Krasnovodsk Chemical Technology Technicum is located in Bekdash.
