Twig Fodder

Twig Fodder

a coarse fodder of the thin shoots of various tree species, such as birch, aspen, maple, linden, ash, willow, elm, poplar, filbert, and conifers. Shoots of oak, buckthorn, bird cherry, common elder, and other species that contain bitter tanning or laxative substances are not used. In 100 kg of twig fodder there are approximately 12-15 feed units. Twig fodder is sometimes used to feed sheep, goats, rabbits, and cattle, partially replacing hay and straw in their rations. Pine needles are used principally for production of pine meal and vitamin paste.
