total radiation pyrometer

[′tōd·əl ′rād·ē¦ā·shən pī′räm·əd·ər] (engineering) A pyrometer which focuses heat radiation emitted by a hot object on a detector (usually a thermopile or other thermal type detector), and which responds to a broad band of radiation, limited only by absorption of the focusing lens, or window and mirror.
