Pavlovskii Posad
a city under oblast jurisdiction and administrative center of Pavlovskii Posad Raion, Moscow Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the right bank of the Kliaz’ma River, a tributary of the Oka, 68 km east of Moscow. Railroad station on the Moscow-Vladimir line. Population, 68,000 (1974; 43,000 in 1939).
Pavlovskii Posad has long been known as a center of the textile industry, which is now primarily represented by enterprises that produce woolens (a worsted-goods combine) and silk and cotton textiles. Other industries include casting and metalworking and the manufacture of agricultural machinery and ceramics. There is an evening technicum of the textile trades in Pavlovskii Posad.
