Utsmii

(also usmi), the hereditary title of the ruler of Kaitag, a historical region in Dagestan. The precise meaning and origin of the title are unknown. The first historical reference to the title of utsmii dates from the 16th century. In 1820 the title was abolished by General A. P. Ermolov.
