Vorokhta

 

an urban-type settlement in Nadvornaia Raion, Ivano-Frankovsk Oblast, UkrSSR, located on the Prut River. Railroad station on the Ivano-Frankovsk-Rakhov line. Population, 7,200 (1969).

The settlement has a lumber combine. Vorokhta is a climatic resort situated on the northern slopes of the Carpathians at an altitude of 810-850 m, 95 km from the town of Ivano-Frankovsk. The summer is moderately warm (the July temperature is 15° C), and the winter is mild (the average January temperature is 7° C). Precipitation is 830 mm a year. There are sanatoriums for patients with active forms of tuberculosis of the lungs and tuberculosis of the bones. Vorokhta has a tourist center.
