[′thən‚bərg tek‚nēk] (biochemistry) A technique used to study oxidation of a substrate occurring by dehydrogenation reactions; methylene blue, a reversibly oxidizable indicator, substitutes for molecular oxygen as the ultimate hydrogen acceptor (oxidant), becoming reduced to the colorless leuco form.
