HaematologyA generic term for a relatively small (10–20 µm) leukocyte with usually a single round-to-oval nucleus.
Examples
Lymphocytes, monocytes, plasma cells, occasionally epithelioid histiocytes.
Pathology
A term of art for any round cell of unknown lineage, the nature of which can be often be determined with immunohistochemistry.
