Trigon (pop culture)A powerful other-dimensional demon, Trigon has bedeviled the DC Comics Universe—and the Teen Titans in particular—since his first appearance in The New Teen Titans #2 (1980) in a Marv Wolfman–penned and George Pérez–rendered story. Clad in a white cape, boots, and a loincloth, Trigon has bright red skin, four eyes, small antlers, and sharp, pointed teeth. As the manifestation of evil, he has the power to drain souls; manipulate matter; travel through time, space, and other dimensions; fire force beams from his eyes; command legions of demons; and grow to hundreds of feet tall. Trigon was born to a demon-worshipping woman on a dying world, and by the age of six, he had destroyed his race and his homeworld. At age thirty, he ruled his entire dimension and millions of worlds, but he wanted more. Desiring a child to rule by his side, he broke through to Earth's dimension, took the form of a handsome human, and fathered a child with a woman named Arella. The daughter that was born was Raven, but Arella fled with her to the mystical other-dimensional community known as Azarath, whose sorcerers were keeping Trigon at bay. There, Raven was taught to use her powers to heal and help others, and to rebel against the demonic blood within her. Feeling too strongly the call of her father, Raven fled Azarath and came to Earth, reassembling the Teen Titans group to fight Trigon. Arella aided the Titans and they were eventually able to banish Trigon to a Nether-verse; Arella stayed behind to guard its dimensional doorway. Over time, Raven eventually began to succumb to her evil ancestry, even as Trigon escaped to destroy the souls of his dimension and Azarath. Trigon assaulted Earth, transforming it into a literal hell, until the Teen Titans—along with the souls of those from Azarath—were able to find a way to destroy him forever. The Azarathian souls were tainted by Trigon, however, and caused later destruction on Earth. Raven became evil again, planting “Trigon seeds” in several of the Titans' allies and forcing them to confront the Titans. They were defeated, and Raven was given a new body. Recently, the Trigon-worshipping Church of Blood manipulated Raven, and tiny hordes of demons that resemble Trigon have been shown in a demonic dimension. Whether this implies the return of the Titans' greatest foe has yet to be revealed. In the animated Teen Titans TV show (2003–2006), Trigon is shown to be the demonic other-dimensional father of Raven as well. In the series' fourth season, he finally broke through to Earth to attack the Titans, along with his foot soldier Slade. A Trigon toy figure was released in 2004 from Bandai.trigonenUK
