Unauthorized Use Unauthorized UseThe illegal use of a credit card without permission from the card holder. Unauthorized use can be fairly basic; for example, one may steal and use a credit card. Often, however, unauthorized use involves using computer programs to find a person's financial information and conduct large transactions with that person's credit. The card holder may be responsible for the loss of the first $50 if he/she informs the bank within 60 days, but many card issuers waive this responsibility. See also: Identity theft. |
