Passer, Arent

 

Date and place of birth unknown; died 1637 in Tallinn. Sculptor and architect.

Of Dutch origin, Passer worked primarily in Tallinn (1589–1637) and Haapsalu (1626–28). He incorporated Renaissance elements in Estonian art. His best known works are the facade of the building of the fraternity of the Black Heads in Tallinn (1597) and the tombstone of Pontus De la Gardie in the Domkirche in Tallinn (1589–95).
