Ras al-Tannurah

 

a city in eastern Saudi Arabia. Ras al-Tannurah is a large port on the Persian Gulf, with freight turnover totaling 169.8 million tons in 1971. It is linked by highway to the ports of al-Damman and al-Khubar and to the center of the Dhahran oil fields. The city has two refineries, one for petroleum (primarily mazut and diesel fuel) and the other for byproduct natural gas (liquid propane and butane).
