Viriathus

Died 139 B.C.

Viriathus was a shepherd from the Lusitanian tribe. From 147 to 139 he headed the uprising of the Lusitanians against Rome, which lasted from 154 to 133. He was killed by his own retainers, who had been bribed by the Romans.
