Rore, Cipriano de

(sēprēä`nō dā rō`rə), c.1516–65, Flemish composer. Much of his mature life was spent in Italy, where his some 120 madrigals, for four and five voices, were admired and are of crucial importance in the history of the genre. Other works by Rore include three books of motets and a setting of the St. John Passion.
