basic health diet
A core diet that incorporates sound eating principles (such as eating when one is relaxed, chewing thoroughly and drinking adequate water during the day) and consumption of the “right”, primarily vegetarian, foods. Most protein is provided by grains, beans and nuts, fish, low-fat dairy products and lean meats, ideally grown without adding hormones or antibiotics to the feed; frying is discouraged, as is serving foods either too hot or too cold. The BHD is supplemented by vitamins, minerals and digestive aids, including betaine, bromelain, lecithin, ox bile, pancrealipase and papain.
