(täho͞omo͞ol`kō), inactive volcano, 13,816 ft (4,211 m) high, W Guatemala. It is the highest mountain in Central America.

an active volcano in Guatemala. The highest peak in Central America, Tajumulco rises to an elevation of 4,217 m. It resembles a right circular cone with two summits. The crater, which is up to 70 m across, is on the main, or eastern, cone. The slopes are covered by oak and pine forests. Xerophytic mountain meadows are found at higher elevations. The last eruption of Tajumulco was in 1863.
