Tai Ming-Shih
Tai Ming-Shih
Born Apr. 15, 1653; died Mar. 3, 1713. Chinese historian. He collected materials to write a history of the southern Ming dynasty (ruled 1645–62), which was destroyed by the Manchu Ch’ing dynasty. Tai was imprisoned by the Manchu government in 1711 and was then executed. In 1841 part of Tai Ming-shih’s work was published under the title Sung Ch’ien-hsii hsiensheng chi (Collected Works of Mr. Sung Ch’ien-hsü).
