Roofing Iron

sheets of soft carbon steel (thickness 0.25-2.0 mm), intended primarily for building roofs, and also for the manufacture of metal containers and consumer products. It is usually made by hot rolling in sheet mills or by cold rolling in narrow strip mills with subsequent annealing to increase plasticity. Roofing iron is often coated with a thin layer of zinc (zinc-plated, or galvanized, roofing iron) for protection against corrosion. Some roofing iron is manufactured in the form of corrugated sheets.
