paroxysmal hemicraniaA relatively rare form of headache, more common in women than in men, characterized by multiple daily episodes of unilateral facial or ocular pain that may be precipitated by movements of the head or neck. It is related to trigeminal neuralgia, and often is effectively treated with nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents, such as indomethacin. See also: hemicrania |
