Power Institute

(full name, G. M. Krzhizhanovskii Scientific Research Power Institute; ENIN), an institute located in Moscow and operated under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy Resources and Electrification of the USSR. It was founded in 1930 (until 1961 it operated under the supervision of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR). The institute’s research programs include investigation of promising areas in the development of the energy industry and energy science, improvement of methods for organizational and economic administration and management of the energy industry, and study of the most efficient methods and facilities for the generation, conversion, transmission, and storage of electricity. The institute has a branch in Minsk. The institute’s three specialized academic councils are empowered to approve doctoral dissertations and dissertations submitted for the degree of candidate of sciences.
