A gene on chromosome 12q12 that encodes anoctamin 6, a multipass protein that localises to cell membrane and is thought to act as a calcium-activated chloride channel; it is expressed in embryonic stem cells, foetal liver and the retina, as well as in CML and GI tract cancers.Molecular pathology
