Veselyi Reservoir

a reservoir formed in 1941 on the river Zapadnyi Manych in Rostov Oblast, RSFSR. Area, 238 sq km; volume, 1.02 cu km; length, 98 km; greatest width, 7 km; mean depth, 4.3 m. The reservoir has provided regulation of flow for many years. It is used for irrigation, water transport, power supply, and commercial fishing (carp, pike perch, bream, and roach).
